"Summer of Love/The People, The Places, The Parties."

Via Tom and Lorenzo, where a commenter says "Was the cover photo inspired by the Gossamer?"

ADDED: It made me think of this old picture of Julie London:

That's from this album cover, which had a big effect on me when I was a child. I still have it. It's one of the records from my father I've told you about.

Maybe the outfit was designed by a gay-hairdresser hare.

No, I totally want to eat her. I just want to bite into that. She's hot. It's working. Don't let the gay men mock you, hot girl! Keep rocking.

Truly, there is nothing new under the sun, or at least nothing in our modern world that was not prophesied in the nearly-holy works of Looney Tunes.

Saint Croix said...

Also, old smart women should not mock young hot women. Stop it, Althouse! We need them for breeding!

I want a hot girl with a giant heart, damn it.

The Summer of Love is in Madison.

This year. Every year.

Ann Althouse said...

I agree she's hot. It's very hot, a big furry heart suit in the summer.

She is cute, but there is something off when the cuffs don't match the collar.

I had that album. I loved it.

She was pretty good actress, too.

She is attractive but nothing special. Her facial expression is off-putting. Looks like she is always pissed off.She ought to try smiling, she would look nicer.

Chuck Jones's neckless monster never crossed my mind. Instead I thought of Leslie Parrish.

I always like a woman who can appreciate a great heart on.

See, that plays off the phrase 'hard-on'.

A hard-on is an erection.

The heart pumps blood to the penis.

So her giant heart is implying she will give you a giant hard-on.

If you have a penis.

Analysis complete.

I am Laslo.

Julie London! Lord, that woman was sexy. Here she is with Don Bagley.

I always had the strangest reaction to Dixie McCall, R.N. when I watched "Emergency!" as a kid. Now I know why.

She is one my of favorite models. She is an actress too.

I thinks she is incredibly hot.

Amazing face and body.

I agree she's hot. It's very hot, a big furry heart suit in the summer.

And yet, in strange contradiction to the laws of thermodynamics, she'd be even hotter if she unzipped it.

At least Julie London isn't built like a 14 year old boy.

Yes on the smile.
Its incredible how many think its sophisticated to be so serious.
And its absurd to be so serious in such a silly costume.

That would be a good outfit for a day you feel bloated.

Would have been good for our Miss Universe below.

Here's how she prepped for Suicide Squad

There still wasn’t a script, but David asked me to go and try and find a forest and, if it was a full moon, get naked and walk through the woods with my feet in the mud, which I did. There wasn’t a full moon, but I howled like a wolf.

Dude! I like her.

She seemed vaguely familiar, so I had to google her name.

She was married to Jack Webb of Dragnet fame. She later divorced Webb, and married Robert Troup.

In the 70's she was an actress in the show "Emergency". Her husband, Mr. Troup, acted on the same show. The show was produced by Jack Webb.

Just the facts, ma'am!

"She is attractive but nothing special."

Ah well, its like MY Dad used to say:

"There's always one."

@madAsHell:

Julie London had always been a singer, and Bobby Troup was a singer, jazz pianist, composer, etc, so it's easy to grok why they were married when "Emergency" was first aired.

Here's the bit I'll bet you never knew: Bobby Troup wrote the classic standard tune "Route 66".

Though I am totally immune to Madison Avenue techniques, I can still sing, note for note, the Marlboro jingle Julie London sang back when it was a "woman's" cigarette.

Who don't you settled back, and have a full flavored smoke....

"Looks like she is always pissed off." It's called a resting bitch face.
