"I get pity links from Instapundit."

Says Mickey Kaus. (Nice to see him on Bloggingheads again. And here's his blog, where he seems to really care about getting visitors, so, please, go pity-visit him.)

When I was blogging, I would have killed for a pity link from Insty.

Ha! Australia's Tim Blair linked to my then-current blog once, resulting, as I recall, in perhaps a couple of dozen extra readers, for that one post. I was very pleased, but cannot keep at blogging for longer than a fortnight before I doze off, as it were.

I follow MK but via an RSS reader: wonder how or if that shows up in his stats?

If you really, really care about immigration issues, Kaus is can't-miss. If you pay only casual attention, the nuances of his carefully architected position will be indistinguishable, and the blog will seem like an unending monotonous rant.

I really liked his car posts on Slate.

I think of Kaus as being quite humorous, but I'm not finding anything humorous about immigration, and it's immigration, immigration, immigration with him. How can that work?!

Ann Althouse said...

The only way to be humorous about immigration is to say stupid ethnic/racial things. Who can do that? Certainly not somebody who wants to have an effect on policy.

From the urban dictionary.....

Pity sex - When girls have sex with guys because they feel bad for them.

Guys prefer to wear beer goggles.

And it was precisely in response to a Bloggingheads that Meade wrote, back in 2008: "But considering all the benefits, I guess I'd really be a fool not to take a close look if Althouse were to, just out of niceness, propose to pity-marry me."

I went, and not out of pity, since I enjoy Kaus, but the format of this twitblog is a disaster. Please change it Mickey.

I had a wonderful secretary who called it a "Mercy Fuck." I had never heard the term and nearly fell out of the chair laughing. It was not an offer just educational. She was far too wise to make such an offer to her "boss."

Well, an advocate has a cause, and he has a point. I, as an interloping foreigner, can see that there is a degree of injustice to the American worker. I have seen the effect of the H1b scheme. There is a recent awful story about Disney, but there is a much worse one, less publicized, in So Cal Ed. Multiply these by thousands even less visible.
Its silly to complain that MLK was about racism all the time.

I am a big fan of Mickey, the Last onset Liberal. But I don't like his blog format.

Cato the Elder was about Carthage, Carthage, Carthage, and eventually Carthage was destroyed.

When Mickey was a young pup, he was all about welfare reform, welfare reform, welfare reform. And it happened.

And without Mickey's persistence, the media might still be peddling the image of John Edwards as the great incorruptible man who loves his sainted wife so much and goes to Wendy's for their anniversary. That sleazebag might be the front-runner ahead of Clinton right now.

Is that a New-Age inspired, soft-Marxist evolutionary psychologist writer on the Left or is that the new Sherriff of Salt Pan Flats?

that's what we called it growing up as a military brat...

"and it's immigration, immigration, immigration with him."

It works because a lot of people are against Amnesty and he's almost the only intelligent, well-informed Blog posting about it.

Plus, he's quite humorous about the Motives of the pro-immigration forces and politicians. Especially, the ones in bed with Big Business pushing for cheap labor while singing the praises of diversity.

He is very unattractive-I pity him for his looks.

Credit National Enquirer editor Barry Levine with nailing John Edwards. Bloggers hinted, smirked and sniffed. The NE team stalked, staked out and delivered the goods.

Was he in Idiocracy?

jr565 said...

Actually Mickey Kaus is the Secretary of Education in Idiocracy and Kaus is played by an actor who looks just like Kaus, only really dumb looking.

That was more on immigration then I ever cared about.

I'm glad the guy on the left kept hydrating throughout.

Water, something in a cup that made his eye's wiggle, then back to the water.

I think he was drinking Puerto Rican Rum, as it makes my eyes wiggle too.
