"Here are 33 Questionable Entries on the ‘Viral’ Everytown Map of All School Shootings Since Newtown."

This is helpful.

Suicides? Accidentally shooting yourself? Drive by's in front of schools?
Not relevant to the disucssion at hand. I thought the issue was crazy people going into schools and killing the kids.

I'm shocked, shocked, that gun control zealots would twist these tragedies for their own gain :)

Surprised at the number of public suicides at school.

Only 33 questionable entries? That is light years better than I expected.

Because gun-related crimes and deaths only matter if they involve a nutjob shooting inside the classroom. That's what helps you to say (1) we need more mental health monitoring (but damned I'm gonna pay for it!) and (2) we can't pay attention to it because that would be rubbernecking (as Althouse claimed after a bunch of kids were slaughtered at Sandy Hook).

This is soooo helpful.

Question everything you see and read.

We are a nation of people with agendas.

Why complain to us? We're not the ones who decided to do a map claiming to be limited to school shootings.

But, but, Barack said we had a school shooting "every week." It must be true.

How many of these shootings took place on Super Bowl Sunday, which I remember being told was the most violent day of the year?

Good memory.

More specifically, the lefties/feminists proclaimed that more women were beaten by men on super bowl sunday than any other day of the year.

Hilariously false.

Yet this false "fact" made it's way into the popular culture, talk show circuit and academia.

Similarly, the hilariously false claim that physical abuse of women by men caused more birth defects than all the other causes put together.

This one made it into textbooks and "mainstream" lefty publications, such as Time, which later printed a retraction.

In the back of the mag.

Without fanfare.

Mission accomplished.

Up next, all of Bowe Berghdals military mates are psychotic murderers so Bowe had to defect to the Taliban/Al Qaeda types as the only way to "protect" the local population from the predations of those evil empire-building bloodthirsty Americans.

Followed quickly by Robert Cook's unabashed acceptance of this "truth".

Wow, a lot of people killed themselves at school or on school property. Interesting stat....that has nothing to do with crazy people shooting up schools.

The Utah entry on the map was also an attempted suicide. So that makes at least 34 questionable entries.

CNN has revised its talking point regarding this map. It now says there were fifteen Newtown-like schoolshootings since Newtown, an 80% reduction.

Why can't progs be truthful with facts?

Gang-related shootings don't count, I'm so relieved.

If you have to lie to make your argument, then you don't have a valid argument to make.

This is what you get when you regurgitate a talking point from people with an axe to grind. You end up looking stupid.

"can't progs be truthful with facts?"

Facts are fuzzy. Intent is really all that matters. Maybe not intent, just say the reason. Maybe not the reason, but at least the one I believe in.

Do it for the Children!!!

What is going on with CNN? They seem to be eyeing Fox's news audience, if leaving Fox with their opinion niche.

"Gang-related shootings don't count, I'm so relieved"

They are a different issue. If you are going to lump them together, then say something like "Gun Violence" near schools, not try to hop on board the public sympathy for "school shootings" which are another thing.

Admittedly it worked for you guys to define waterboarding in the same class as raping the victim's children and wife before the application of car battery clips to the testicles as was common in Iraq, or the disembowelment pre execution as was done in the middle ages.

Used to be if you sourced something like Wikipeida in a HS debate, someone ate your lunch. It might be good data and good information but it wasn't rigorous. In the past couple of months the U.S. President has used data from nakedly activist organizations without bothering to check to see if it's correct, and someone has kindly done it for him (albeit after the fact). This might be his habit, I don't know, but it seems to be piling up lately.
