Polls in sidebar.

Keep an eye out for polls in the sidebar on this blog. My ad service, BlogAds, is gathering info that might be useful for getting more ads. Like right now, I'm seeing a question on the extent to which you like Sarah Palin.

How much spam will I get if I answer?

My question is about the President. I suppose it changes, but I wonder what determines the question: geography, time or what?

Does it help your revenue if I answer? Otherwise, I'm not much inclined. The research value of these is pretty low, so I'm wondering if they are checking out whether people actually read those side bar ads.

I have one now about occupy Wall Street - will it have an impact, yes, no or don't know.

It's positioned about halfway down though, not the sort of thing I'd normally notice.

I picture all of this information disappearing into a vast, gray warehouse to be catalogued and held until the moment when Skynet perceives me to be among its enemies.

I have Javascript turned off, so some don't work.

Lucky me.

OK, so just for you professor, I decided to try it to see what would happen. I said 'no' to the OWS question.

Rather than opening a window, which is what I expected, it went to a question about how much I liked a certain a steak house. I answered "never heard of it".

Then it asked my age and I answered that one.

It never did open a new window or try to sell me something. But who knows what kind of banner ads I'll be getting now?

my question is when are you going to take that shocking meat video down?

You make it hard to eat at my desk.

Known Unknown said...

I agree. Shocking meat has to go.

Surely you can't find a lovely local Madison business that would relish that space?

(I know, you don't control the ads.)

"Broke but not flat busted" was not an option.

It's a post about your revenue model?

Seems so Nike, or Mercedes. Do I come here because I want to read how you pay for the blog?

It looks like 100% of Althouse readers have "no strong opinion" about Ford cars. Or maybe I'm just the only one that got that question.

Roxy clothing? Never heard of 'em.

Shouldn't the Saab cars question be about used Saabs?

Known Unknown said...

Roxy clothing? Never heard of 'em.

it's the female brand of Quicksilver clothes.

Surfer stuff, mostly.

If you eat meat, why does a picture a meat bother you?

I don't eat raw meat. Unless it's sushi.

As several others have commented, please get rid of the shocking meat ad. It is really disgusting.

I like sausage, but I don't like to watch sausage being made. ...and I know pornography when I see it!

Spider-Man is polling pretty well.
