That's actually pretty funny--unlike most of supercilious snarkiness that passes for humor on the left.

There is great opportunity in 2012. Too bad the Republican Party (which I favor over the lesser choice) has "leaders" with only a room temperature IQ.

A dark horse candidate would be welcomeed by the non-Lib voters. They would probably only need a 90-day campaign with good ad coverage.

Run, don't walk, to the masterpiece Melancholia.

Loved it, fucking loved it.

And don't get me started with the music. To die for.

So I guess Ann Coulter is now doing cartoons for Daily Kos under the name Tom Tomorrow. Who knew?

I agree with whimsy -- shockingly enough, DailyKos posted something that was actually funny!

I think Perry has a shot.

I didn't think so, at first. But after his "brain freeze" ... and the way people can have fun with "forgetting something on their list of things," I think he hit pay dirt.

Egg heads? Not a chance!

Plus, there's a special benefit from Texas. "You're allowed to be stupid." "Texas pretty much runs itself."

And, at least Perry doesn't look like the kind of guy that can be bought off by the "elites." Who run the media. And, run DC.

Perry probably couldn't even get seated at a great table in Manhattan. He's not liked by people American happen to hate.

There's no poll for this.

Mitt Romney? He doesn't stand a chance in 10 out of 12 "flip states." Perry, on the other hand, does.

Maybe, the lesson to learn is that Bill Clinton's "Monica scandal" ... actually made him more popular!

Dole? Chosen. But he lost.

The function of news is to be in a topsy-turvy world. How many people respect journalists?

While, at the same time, Obama can't seem to reach some sort of equalibrium ... where people really don't want to vote for him at all.

So far? Perry's a "top runner."

Sarah Palin? Goes on Fox and says she supports Romney. What's with that?

Oh, Sarah Palin also said people should read Peter Schweizer's book. As if they'll learn something new about 'crony chapitalism' ... which is seems we can get rid of.

As to congress ... Boehner doesn't deserve what he took. And, neither does the Chinless Wonder instill confidence.

Maybe, that's another plus for Perry? He doesn't look like the kind of man who would work well with ANY of DC's insiders?

Oh. And, he won't pick Herman Cain to be his veep, either.

Time will tell what actually happens. Sure hope Mitt Romney's not the GOP candidate, though.

The GOP talks a good game - sometimes.

But when it comes to action, they are just as stuck as any union on the seniority rule. Viz: Bob Dole, John McCain.

Well, who will it be this time, guys? Who's been around the longest? Hey Mitt! It's your turn!

I'll be voting Libertarian.

Tom Tomorrow's cartoons have been appearing in the Village Voice for years.

This one stands out, because it's actually funny.

I'd say, almost funny, which is remarkable for Tom Tomorrow, who is usually vicious beyond comprehension.

Tomorrow is one of what seems like a phalanx of leftist comedians who are never funny... Bill Maher and Margaret Cho being the most obvious.

"Tom Tomorrow's cartoons have been appearing in the Village Voice for years."

Yeah, including illustrations of Roy Edroso's columns on "right-wing bloggers." So there's a TT drawing of me out there.

I'm not normally a fan of the guy, but I read this cartoon in the Isthmus and thought it was great. That's how forgiving and open-minded I am.

As Tom Tomorrow goes, it's mild.

That can't represent Althouse.

Doesn't that guy know that her vortex is more swirly, and less jagged. That yellow thing is a piss poor vortex.

Even though the vortex was a bust, at least he nailed the image of Althouse. jk

One point Karl Rove has made is that IA polls may be totally divorced from the reality of who the caucuses pick.

Imagine what would happen in the media if the winners were Perry, Herman, and Bachmann?

All the debates and all the smears would have gone for naught - and then we go to NH where Newt's neck and neck with Milton.

As opposed to the Demos? Frankly, the Republicans have some good people who have gotten some ghastly advice. It's a question of who's flexible enough to make changes and that seems to come down to Perry. Hopefully, Herman will also see the light.

Good point.

All the fallacious arguments that preceded McCain's nomination are being resurrected by her.

I think her father's illness and death have had a bigger effect on her than anyone realizes.

There are reasons why true believing conservatives (and lefties) have such a paucity of "pure, passes all the litmus tests" candidates that turn out to be a plausible Presidential candidate.

They rarely last in lower office unless they are marginal players, or in solid red or blue state out of the overall American mainstream. Unless, of course they never ran for office or live off their entertainment and rabble-rousing skills as a pundit, talk radio person, or poverty/race card pimping..

Reagan was a RINO, Bill Clinton was a DINO.

What GOP voters want is NOT BARACK OBAMA.

Democrats want a President who will end American involvement in senseless overseas conflicts, increase respect for America around the world, prevent the very richest from acquiring ever-greater fortunes through unethical or downright criminal means, and make the country proud through his tremendous personal erudition, empathy, and integrity.

This represents a rare moment of perfect agreement between the supporters of the two parties.

Quaestor said...

So the ideal GOP candidate lacks corporeal form, eh?

Given the alternative I'll vote for Sauron ... at least he's not Kenyan.

As someone who had to live under the rule of Mitt Romney, I can safely inform my fellow Republicans that Romney is really a Democrat.

If you're a member of the Democrat Party wing of the Repbulican Party, then he's your guy.

But I have never seen any poll (straw poll, opinion poll, etc.) where Romney gets more than 19% of Republican Party support.

He may well end up being the nominee and if he does he'll be the President and we'll have four more years of an Obama administration - just with less Hussein.

Americans, like Greeks, Britons, and most of the Euros, believe fervently in the third way, a form of soft socialism.

All know, deep down, that their dreams live off of profit generated by the market. But none have the discipline, either culturally or by law, to limit the portion of the economy devoured by the State.

I'm becoming resigned to that fact.

Ron Paul is evidence a good number of folks want a drastic change. That the likely candidate will be Mitt suggests not enough people have the stomach for it.

But change will come. You cannot elect an economy. You can only elect to fuck it up.

As has been said, consider the source. TT has been a tiresome lefty hack from the beginning. He only has three cartoon ideas, recycled ad nauseam:

- Republicans are evil;
- Democrats are spineless;
- Single payer health care will bring about a new golden age.

I'll take someone who wants to repeal Obamacare, increase border security and domestic drilling for oil and NG, close loopholes and decrease the corporate tax rate, get rid of Obama's regulations especially EPA co2 rules, and have a holiday tax on repatriated profits, AND someone that is a serious canidate that can beat Obama.....I guess that would be Mitt.

How do you know what Mitt really wants to do?

Steven said...

Why bother voting at all? Voting Libertarian is a wasted vote.

I won't vote for a candidate who signed Obamacare into law — whether he did it at the federal level or the state level.

"Romney or Obama" is a choice between the red ten-inch butt plug covered in broken glass and lubricated with Tobasco sauce and the blue ten-inch butt plug covered in broken glass and lubricated with Tobasco sauce.

Even if you're going to get one rammed up you either way, it's silly to pick which one's your favorite color, and almost as silly as to say nothing. Explicitly saying "Neither" might be futile, but at least you did what you could.

Cindy Martin said...

Sorepaw...no one knows exactly what one will do once they are in office.(obama is a good example) But Mitt has said he will do these things if elected and I beleive he will. IMO, he is our best chance to undo the socialism hoisted upon us by Obama

Cindy Martin said...

Steven, then don't vote. You and others like you will have 4 more years of 5 trillion dollar debt, more power and loads of federal money given to the unions, the permanence of obamacare, the failure of foreign policy, co2 regulations up the wahzoo and businesses spending another 4 years hoarding their cash.

Carnifex said...

To all those pooh poohing a 3rd party vote or note voting at all if you don't like either candidate...

I am University of Kentucky Football fan. And we suck. We have reached levels of suckiness never achieved in 100 years of suckage. We are really, really bad. The last team we beat fired their head coach the next day. Do you get the idea about how bad we are?

We've been calling for a new head coach but our AD said "Too bad, I'm standing behind the guy I hired for so much money that we can't afford to buy him out. Oh, and the president that left last year gave ME an 8 year extension so you can't buy me out either!"

So a fan boycott has been building all year to the point where the school is giving away tickets for the last game of the year. So it doesn't look so bad on tv. Next season, it will really hit the school hard because they won't have any season ticket sales to carry them through the year. The school stands to loose at least 10 million dollars next year alone, not counting the fans that won't ever be back. Those dollars are gone forever. I'm willing to bet we get a new coach.

The same applies to the political parties. If you don't like the candidates they keep running just don't vote for them. Eventually, after loosing to the opposition enough, they will get the idea or they will fold. Either way we win.

The Republican Elites think they can shove "Der Mittens" down our throats. Like they did McCain, and Dole, and Ford, and yadda, yadda, yadda.

We've had enough, fuck you very much. Run a conservative or get outta the effing way.

The Democrat Elites are trying to hold back their fringe that hates Obama for not being Liberal enough. Only for the Dem's, it's not their fringe. It's the majority. I have yet to personally meet a Dem who doesn't think Obama has caved to the Republicans at every turn.

OMG someone mentioned the angry sock monkey being Kenyan. Cue Mick in 3...2...

J/K Mick is right in that the angry sock monkey as not meeting the "native born American" listed by the Constitution, and as defined by Happersett v. Minor.

The professor is right to be not flattered. She is not a right wing blogger. Also, the drawing was done in really harsh light.

Again, kidding.

Take heart Professor. That is how most Liberals see not just Conservatives, but as you see demonstrated, how they see people who allow conservatives a voice.

As with most neo-libs (did I just coin a new phrase?) they eschew classic liberal ideology of freedom, and free speech, for statism, and communism.

I see the Professor as more an old school pinko. (I am feeling really puckish tonight, my apologies to any I've offended)

I would never use "old" to describe out hostess otherwise.

Steven said...

Steven, then don't vote.

Not voting is the "say nothing" in the analogy. Voting Libertarian—or some other third-party candidate—is saying "No."

You and others like you will have 4 more years of 5 trillion dollar debt, more power and loads of federal money given to the unions, the permanence of obamacare, the failure of foreign policy, co2 regulations up the wahzoo and businesses spending another 4 years hoarding their cash.

Yep, that's what'll happen if Romney is elected. So why are you voting for him?

Cindy Martin said...

Steve...I'll put a 100 bucks down that Romney, if elected, will try his hardest to get rid of Obamacare, will increase domestic sources of driling, will try and decrease corporate taxes, will have a better foreign policy than Zero, will work on better border security and will try and decrease all of Obama's regulations.

Cindy Martin said...

Steve...voting third party will guarantee 100% that you will get this:

You and others like you will have 4 more years of 5 trillion dollar debt, more power and loads of federal money given to the unions, the permanence of obamacare, the failure of foreign policy, co2 regulations up the wahzoo and businesses spending another 4 years hoarding their cash

Steven said...

"Try his hardest"? That's exactly what I'm afraid of, Cindy. He'll "try his hardest", wind up passing stuff actually to the left of what Obama could manage in the face of Republican opposition, and then say afterward that it was the Democrats' fault. Just like he's explained RomneyCare by saying that it's the best deal he could get in Massachusetts.

I completely grant that Obama should not be elected in 2012. The difference is, I'm not willing to vote for him in either Original or Mormon recipes. It's very unfortunate that there are enough people like you around that anyone in the Republican Party thinks it could get away with nominating a Mormon Obama; if there were fewer of you and more of me, we might actually avoid disaster in 2012.
