Need to get that mirror fixed; around here the cops will pull you over.

Well, IF Fred Clark wins ... he walks into his "smackers" reputation.

It would be like the space between Hulsey's two front teeth.

How'd the car's passenger side mirror break? (While I couldn't imagine you couldn't tell a cop it was a hail stone. And, it just happened. And, you're on your way to the hospital to get it fixed.)

Did the mirror break on your recent road trip? Did you not notice it was broken?

(Since I still have my Ross Perot sign, I'm not so sure Fred Clark's signs mean much.) Too bad he didn't invest in campaign buttons.

Carol_Herman said...

When this is over, is somebody gonna do the math. To explain the wholesale costs of the votes? A fortune must have been paid out to part time staff ... just to make phone calls.

Can you recall a recall?

Carol, when Thune won in South Dakota over Dachle, someone took the total spent, the number of undecided voters (those very few who don't really know 6 months ahead of time who they will vote for) and calc'd the cost per vote. It was incredible. Possibly the same here.

Irene said...

How did that mirror get broken? You didn't get a big puppy, I hope!

I hope all of the "this is what democracy looks like" folk have puppies tonight.

Jason said...

King wins by about 1200 votes.

The Dems should be ashamed about that. But Im sure it will be celebrated as a political tsunami against Scott Walker.

Carol_Herman said...

Chuck 66 @ 10:36 PM

Daschle never left DC! He's a lobbyist. With connections. Because he knows how to oil the machinery to make the votes come out.

Like a mechanic in a garage. (They see plenty of customers who'd open the trunk, when they're asked to open the hood.)

Yes, I know Thune won. But Daschle never left!

Who has better access to votes?

Did Obama campaign for the Dems? Wonder why not...

Some people would look at that yard and say, "wow, there's to much signage. Call me crazy, but I think it needs more cow bell

Carol_Herman said...

"TPM" says:

Dems take 2. GOP holds 3. And, the last one is still being counted.

Does that mean one seat can get contested ahead? So the judicary's plate gets loaded up with more mashed potatoes?

Carol_Herman said...

The angle!

You're seen in the car's broken mirror, Ann. That means Meade is standing on the grass. This is his picture. You out-gunned all the signs on that lawn! That's fer shur.

Maybe, the guy who put up all those Fred Clark signs ... couldn't give one away to a neighbor. So he went for broke, and put them all on his lawn.

If I was his neighbor I'd have stuck out plastic reindeer. And, then I'd stick Post It notes on their rears.

Good Post It notes don't fly off.

You could even claim you're making a political statement. Drop in some forks. And, you've got a monument to Sandra Day O'Connor.

We've got to recall these politicians again immediately. Is that possible?

GOP source says Rs will hold all but Kapanke.

GOP source was wrong. Hope that:

Via McCormack, too good to check: “GOP source: with 98 percent in, it’s Darling 30,868 to 28,170″.

is not the same guy...

Carol_Herman said...

People are voting with heavy hearts.

If it was a light-hearted event? Who'd vote in such an off-off-election?

Some have asked why didn't obama come out to campaign, for his party's locals. When has that ever happened where the president comes to town for some local guy? (Or gal.)

Why wasn't Kloppenhoppen out there ... if things were so close ... didn't she still have stature?

If not she could have just teased the Brillo higher.

But she wasn't out there campaigning. Did she get plum tuckered out?

Carol_Herman said...

In the second picture, there's not a lot of cars on main street. That's not a good sign for the businesses there.

Oh oh! The dems are accusing the Waukesha County Clerk of "sitting on" votes.

Chennaul said...

You can almost invert the trends-

Darling leads some 66% to 34% in Waukesha and the Dem leads some 65% to to 35% in Milwaukee.

Dustin said...

Looks like the GOP has won the day.

For the most part.

I'm sure the narrative would have been that the GOP lost some seats as voters reel away from Walker's extreme bla bla bla. That part's inevitable these days.

We'll see if it's over. I hear it's not over until the democrats win.

Nope. I'm taking that picture. Meade is driving.

How the mirror got broke? A mishap. I'm not telling the details. No other cars were involved. We have a new mirror ordered.

Fen said...

Darling up 3828 with 82% reporting

Ed Schultz is making an ass of himself on MSNBC. Talks about "big money" as being the reason the GOP wins...says progressives have "hope" because 2 Dems won.

Yet fails to mention that unions have spent some $30 MILLION in these 6 recall races to support Democrats. But that's not "big money". After all, anyone who works for a union is dirt poor and spends most of his or her day being shit on.

The guy is just absurd.

YES! And if we keep at this "politics as business" model...Given enough elections followed by recall elections, kids and old hippies might move out of their parent's basements.

Ha ha

Before we know it, they'll be renting two bedroom apartments with five of their "closest" friends.

@Jason: Any accusations of Koch funds?

David said...

"A mishap. I'm not telling the details."

That tells me Meade did it. Way to shelter your man.

Big money????

Here's how the "big money" was spent in the 32nd, where the Dem Schilling beat Rep Kapanke: "Of the $640,000 in independent spending in the 32nd District, more than 95 percent has benefited Shilling."

When Democrats get shitloads of outside help, it isn't BIG money or SPECIAL INTEREST MONEY...it's just "independent spending"

Fen said...

strike that, still only 82% reporting

That would be a cruel and ironic consequence of the appartement phenomenon.

Communes too will be rebranded as "hip"

Why does Milwaukee County have 12 unreported precincts?

Saving some ammo for Sandy?

"12:30 ET, News 3 in Wisconsin calls the race for Darling."

Jason said...

If I was in front of Ed Schultz when he said that about "big money", I would have told him to go to hell.

Its always "big money" when a GOP politician is involved. But when a Dem has their war chest filled by some rich bastard, its "grassroots".

Barack Obama isnt charging $10 per plate at his fundraisers so the "middle class family" can have a good meal.

What a bunch of bullshit.

I'll say it here too. The unions spent $1.7M trying to defeat Sheila Harsdorf, and only got 42% of the vote.

"Communes too will be rebranded as "hip""

Hm? Why do I doubt that?

Thinking it is much more likely that we rebrand any new age communal arrangement as "retro-homesteading".

That's like when boomer parents, who have no money, bring in gran or pop-pop as well as their own kids who either have kids or college debt that is equal to the cost of raising a kid.

Carol_Herman said...

Chuck 66 @ 11:52 PM

I dunno. I thought you could spread that $1.7-million around a lot of out-of-work hands. Isn't that what "shovel ready" looks like?

Penny said...

If we Americans are, in fact, at the "Broken Dreams Cafe", we can expect more and more "unusual" bed partners.

Here's another example, since we're already on the topic of Wisconsin recall elections.

I stopped in at Huffpo earlier tonight to see what was up. Their success equation was...

Women + Unions + Progressives

Odd bedfellows?

Ha ha

Let's just say I'm happy to be sleeping alone tonight. But then again, I don't live in Wisconsin.
