"Then: False Rape Allegation. Now — Murder?"

Ah... but who is the real victim?

Been following this on KC Johnson's blog Durham in Wonderland for some time.

I've asked a question repeatedly here, Althouse, that you haven't answered?

The hostility of academia toward white hetero men is fierce. Punitive quotas make me a second class citizen in that world.

So, whenever you start talking about abstract issues like academic freedom, I ask the same question, which you haven't answered:

Why should I give a fuck?

I think the REAL victim here is fairly obvious, Crystal Mangum…as a Womon of Colour she has been the victim of this Sexist, Racist Phallicractic Capitalist Society since birth.

Hagar said...

Well, actually, though Crystal Mangum was not assaulted by the lacrosse players at their frathouse, she was obviously assaulted by someone, somwhere, and I think it is an outrage that there never was any further effort to find out what happened that night.
Also, she obviously was a very disturbed person, and there was no effort to get her any help.
It was just all about those poor innocent white boys or those nasty liberal professors, never about Crystal Mangum, so, yeah, she indeed was a victim of "this Sexist, Racist Phallicractic Capitalist Society."

You mean those innocent white boys who saw their reputations savaged and watched their families spend thousands of dollars on their legal defense because someone lied about what they did? Those innocent white boys?

Hagar said...

Yeah, those inocent white boys who held a drunken party with hired strippers at their frathouse.

Common stuff for both men and women in college.

Yale, in fact, hosts a sex week. You ought to look into what goes on during that week.

Now that's just depraved trolling, that's brought me out of retirement. It's an insane world where it's not obvious who are the victims, and who is the perp.

"What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men."

I'll let you in on a secret. Pretty-boy Lukas Jackson is not a hero, deserves no sympathy, and he deserves only our scorn and our resistance. It's the kind of secret that civilizations are built upon.

Hagar: Right, because drunken frat boys hiring a stripper is the same as like raping her. Or stabbing her? Help me out here.

Probably had something to do with her credibility, you know, the part where she falsely accused a bunch of guys of rape.

Also, she obviously was a very disturbed person, and there was no effort to get her any help.

Correct me if I am wrong but after it was all said and done, didn't Jesse Jackson give her some scholarship to go to college?

It was just all about those poor innocent white boys or those nasty liberal professors, never about Crystal Mangum

Actually it was all about her. She made the claim, everyone took her at her word before an investigation even took place and then when it did, the conclusion was that she lied about the whole thing.

So yes, it was all about her.

Broken Cristal is herself just another sharp shard of chaos in the cascade of evil that she called a life. She gave more evil than she received. That's one way of transcending your background and getting even with the bastards. She didn't break the cycle, but she made it spin.

@Hagar
"she was obviously assaulted by someone"
Actually all of the evidence is that she is the one that goes around assaulting people. And why not she doesn't get held accountable for it.

The victim is anyone stupid enough to get involved with Crystal Mangum in any way, shape or form. She's obviously bad news, a deeply troubled individual whose demons have now (apparently) led her to murder. Let's hope she never sees another day outside prison, or perhaps a mental institution.

No. I do say that the Duke lacrosse players were a bunch of overprivileged young jerks, and that their actions, while not criminal, should have got them expelled from the university.

And I do say that the controversy got to be all about these young twerps and the "Duke 88" as arguments in our culture wars, and no attention was paid to Crystal Mangum and her problems.

That is not so unusual, but in this case, I would say the stark difference in concern for the welfare of the parties involved begs some questions about the commenters' motivations.

How SO? They were all 21 and legal as was Ms Magnum…they were engaged in a liberating exercise of female empowerment and sexuality….EXACTLY what did they do wrong, except hail from the wrong, in your view, socio-economic patch?

Thank Yhwh they had money, had they been Jose, Bubba, and Lemonghello they’d have had a Public Defender and been on their way to prison in an expedient “Plea bargain” Agreement.

Assuming that their activites were prohibited by the university.

The controversy was she lied about a criminal act. I agree little attention was paid to her problems, the main one being filing a false accusation leading to criminal charges. She should have been the one imprisoned or at the very least, fined. Instead she got a scholarship from Jesse Jackson.

Gee, maybe Mangum can contact those Duke law professors, to see if any one of them is hot to be her attorney?

My guess is that the Duke professors think the guy fell onto the knife all by himself.

You know what surprises me most? Those professors had tenure. I don't think they've ever apologized to the LaCrosse team members. Or to the coach, whom they saw fired.

Hagar: There has been quite a lot written on this topic. Whole books. The woman was not attacked, raped or otherwise mistreated by the lacrosse boys. Poor black people are from time to time at fault, sometimes criminally. And sometimes people jump on their sanctimonious high horses and put the wrong people through hell and suffer no consequences. Take the faculty of Duke as an example of the concept of disgusting.

What Does a Social Disaster Sound Like?
Well now we know. The link above links to a poster put out by Duke University African American Studies "professor" Wahneema Lubiano, a member of the infamous Group of 88 who distributed the poster on the Duke Campus. There is much information about the case at Durhamwonderland and LieStoppers. Crystal Mangum will have to face the consequences of her own actions, but the Postmodernist, Marxist, and other special interest "professors" and other enablers sure didn't help. I am tempted to post the names of the Group of 88, but I won't waste my time. They are available on the web!

Duke had to pay those poor innocent Lax players about $15 million each for libel and slander.
Secret agreement on settlement but IRS exposed that by placing tax lien on one of the players even though he had paid tax.

How about a sequel to "To Kill a Mockingbird"?

Crystal Mangum=Stripper=Exotic Dancer=Prostitute just commited murder and hopefully she'll pay the price for it?

When your in Crystal Mangum's profession you eventuall OD on drugs, get killed or kill someone?

Get Eric Holder to investigate. He'll make sure she's treated fairly.

quick summary:

Hagar is wrong

The LAX players were only guilty of being college boys, nothing more. They were wrongly accused, wrongly prosecuted, wrongly hung out to dry by their school and deserve their payday.

Crystal is/was a psychotic, drug addict, hooker, who would have gotten more treatment, and by that I mean jail and meds if she'd been white. The racism that is going to send her away for life was that at every step along her triubled life, excuses were made because she was black and female. Now her kids will be effectively orphans.

Duke has a huge debt to pay over its entire behavior in this travesty. Its liability/costs may reach 9 figures overall. It deserves to pay every cent. The most egregious example was the Duke executive 9who was also an attorney) told the LAX players, NOT to inform their parents or to seek their own counsel, but instead rely on Duke lawyers (who had a different agenda)

So let me understand....we have the good joss to rise out of the mud for short time and be sensate. During this brief break from the mud ..not all of us experience the "good life" YOU MEAN LIFE IS NOT FAIR???and opportunity or lack there of should not preclude good outcomes?? Spread the wealth...help a brother out.

Hagar,

I am a clinical psychologist. I want to maximize my practice earnings. However, I do not accept patients like Crystal Mangum.

There is nothing that modern psychology can do to help such a person. Meds from a psychiatrist might chill her out, but her serious personality disorder problems (in my from-a-distance-speculation) are not amenable to treatment.

"Yeah, those inocent white boys who held a drunken party with hired strippers at their frathouse."

It's pretty easy to see how that railroading of the Duke lacrosse players almost went down, when there are so many liberal shitheads like yourself that want to punish people for the crime of whiteness or perhaps for just simply having more fun than you.

It's sad that you feel no shame in wanting to punish people for doing nothing wrong. It takes a real vicious fuckstick to have that sort of mentality.

1. Crystal Mangum – not a victim.
2. Guy who was ventilated after choosing to be her “John” - not a victim. [Hint: assumption of risk.]
3. LAX players – victims. And I hope, in the end, they take a major league chunk of change out of the hide of Duke.
4. What's in the hell is wrong with drunken stripper parties at fraternity houses? C'mon, where we livin', Russia?

Well, actually we seem to be in close agreement, except that you fail to deal with the lacrosse players' violations of school policy, unacceptable behavior absent the rape charges, etc., and generally acting like jerks after the story broke.

I don't buy the "boys will be boys" defense.

There's no need for a "defense" for "unacceptable behavior" of hiring strippers you hopeless moron.

Nothing more needs to be said about it.

Revenant said...

I don't buy the "boys will be boys" defense.

Happily, it doesn't make a lick of difference if you buy it or not.

Mangum's going to prison, the players themselves are going to get rich off of the lawsuits, and the country as a whole got a wake-up call about the insanity of modern university faculty. The lacrosse players themselves are now heroes to men -- and intelligent women -- throughout America.

So be as crazy as you want, Hagar. Who cares?
