"The Democrats are giving birth to every movie monster you have ever seen, from Freddy Krueger to... Hell, I can't remember them all."

"Every movie monster ever, the Democrats are conceiving it. They are not happy with themselves. They're in a series of rapid divorces. They're angry. They're throwing the kitchen sink at each other — and to try to help themselves out, they are now conceiving a health care plan. Obamacare is an act of anger, it is an act of desperation, it is a law that soon-to-be-fired Democrats will abandon and leave on the doorstep of the rest of the country. It's a bill with no visible means of support. We're getting a total deadbeat offspring of the Democrats here. It has no visible means of support or love. Nobody's going to love this bill. Nobody's going to have any support for it. It's going to be an unwanted, unloved bill, dependent on the expanding bankrupt government. What could possibly go wrong here? What could possibly go wrong? This bill, while it is right now just an unviable tissue mass which has zero humanity in it, needs to be aborted. I've always been pro-choice. I've always chosen life, except in this case. This bill needs to die. This bill's being conceived by the most unhappy bunch of parents. It's a bill conceived in grievance and anger and desperation and defiance and an attitude of 'Screw you!' to us."

Rush Limbaugh gets a rant started and runs it to a "Screw you!" crescendo.

The jumble of images is truly weird: every movie monster ever; Democrats fucking each other and then getting into fights like a married couple and throwing not everything but the kitchen sink, but actually the kitchen sink; the offspring of this awful relationship, an abandoned baby who's unloved and a deadbeat; the unviable tissue mass that needs to be aborted; the Rush Limbaugh who has "always been pro-choice"; the unhappy, "Screw you!"-shouting parents who should abort their unborn child.

In my experience, there is a strong element of self-loathing in almost all artistic-sorts, and that element also seems to align itself with liberalism. I would say that a lot of it has to do with embarrassment over being such a great country and a belief that people are not able to live in real freedom (which is mostly projection of their own fears that they themselves cannot live in freedom).

Not the sorts of people who I want running things.

There's more consistency if you consider how it started

Now, I want to look at the Democrats here as a couple of parents, in a way. You people know that having children will not save dysfunctional marriages. It just doesn't work. And to the Democrats, passing Obamacare will not save you. It is going to destroy you! It is a suicide pact.

Troubled marriages become more troubles when new responsibilities are added to couples who are already prone to anger and disagreement -- and, frankly, hate each other.

And the monster is a monster baby owing to hatred at his conception. That's nn acceptable story line.

OT where on Rush's site do you find transcripts?

I've been unable to stumble into the click that gets to them.

That's because liberals tend to think our wealth and prosperity is due to luck and not because of our comittment to liberty, free markets and rule of law. Because if they recognized that, they would be forced to acknowledge that our system is superior to others and liberals find that distasteful.

Does my link not take you to the transcript?

I see the stories teased on the front page, and I can click through to the transcripts, even when I'm not signed in as a member.

As a member, I can get to a search box, which works very well to find what I'm looking for. If I hear something on the podcast (another benefit of membership) I can search for a key word or 2 and find the transcript.

As long as Godzilla doesn't come back to life, I'm not worried. Godzilla is dead, right? Right?

It doesn't help that John Kerry looks so much like Hermann Munster.

So you remember Godzilla arising out of the bay in poverbially grainy scarey black and white?

Yikes!

Godzilla was pure hell for the Japanese.

Maybe Mr.and/or Mrs. Smith will go to Washington and save us?

Yes, which proves it's on the site.

How to get to them in general was my question.

I see the stories teased on the front page, and I can click through to the transcripts, even when I'm not signed in as a member.

There's the clue. I was looking for a "transcripts" link.

The required click was lost in the busy crap clutter.

Very bad site design style, inherited from radio station site design ethic.

If some stuff is good, more stuff is better.

Could be a metaphor for Limbaugh's life. Scary monsters under his bed, fear of not being loved and being abandoned, and fear of being rejected and divorced again. Would explain much of his truly miserable existence.

Yeah garage. He looks absolutely downtrodden.

Well as a conservative, I do see every movie monster as some metaphor for liberals and progressives.

Kidding!

And in related cultural misogyny... Glad to see liberals are so...hypocritical.

Before the 2008 election, I told my wife that I think the real reason that the media completely was tossing aside even the pretense of objectivity with regard to Obama in what was - to m - obviously an "extinction burst."

Consider the following:

1) The continuing daisy chain of newspaper/newsmagazine failures
2) The utter failure of liberal talk radio
3) The declining ratings of the alphabet networks, CNN and MSNBC
4) The ascendancy of Fox News
5) The enduring popularity of conservative talk radio
6) The rise of the dextrosphere and the already peaked popularity of the sinestrophere.
7) The repeated best-selling success of conservative books - not just on current topics, but re-examining political history as well (e.g., Liberal Fascism).
8) Outside of the government, union membership is experiencing calamitous decline.

Put them all together and what do you have? The end of the ability of the Left to completely control the narrative, to hide inconvenient truths and to pretend that opposing views are without merit or that they even exist.

I believe that the media understood very well that 2008 would be the last presidential election in which they had as much influence as they did. So they had no incentive to pretend they were objective any longer, after all most of them wouldn't even have jobs by the time the next election rolls around anyway.

By 2012, it is very likely that neither Time nor Newsweek will even exist as print magazines. The NY Times may or may not be putting ink to paper, but even if it is there will be far fewer copies to circulate. Air America has already gone silent. Etc., Etc.

The Leftists in this country have controlled political conversation in this country for generations now. That monopoly has effectively ended, and now their agenda is being shredded daily by Glenn Reynolds' "Army of Davids" who are pointing out that the emperor has no clothes, and in fact, never really did.

So the Democratic Party had no choice but to go "all in" after the last election. From ObamaCare to Cap-N-Tax to Card Check, every liberal wet dream is on the table.
They thought "we've only got one more shot to get this through, so we've got to jam as much through as possible RIGHT NOW." Because they know they're not likely to get another bite at this apple for a very long time to come.

Because not only have they lost control of the message, they've run out of money. Federal and state budgets are exploding across the country with decades of liberal mismanagement and the extraordinarily high cost of government union workers (see GM and Chrysler for examples of where this is heading).

The appetite, and the ability to fund, the expansion of government is over for the foreseeable future.

We just can't afford it. Democrats knew the debt bomb was ticking, but this recession and their own irresponsibility in passing the stimulus plan, sped up the countdown timer to it going off.

Time has run out. The steady money and muscle of their labor union allies are quickly drying up, and that will affect the Democratic Party's ability to remain competitive.

The Leftist agenda will always find a way to come back eventually. That totalitarian impulse isn't going to go away. It never really does. But if gets defeated now, it's going to have to go underground for a long time. And the actions of the Leftists for the last few years proves that they know it too.

Movie monsters symbolize our anxieties about other things. This metaphor makes a lot of sense for Rush; the man has a lot of anxiety.

WV: squidess! Evil squid monster representing our fears about an intrusive federal government.

Yes, if you want to see how to push a monster of a bill through Congress, take a look at how they managed to pass Medicare, Part D.

Limbaugh stood in his living room with a fake microphone as a kid and did broadcasts, when other kids were running their bicycles as trains.

It looks like he's doing what he always wanted to do, far from beset by monsters.

His childhood fear was boredom.

The Blob or the Fog seem to be the best metaphor, for an amorphous and threatening giant gelatinous destructive eat-everything-in-sight including the humans federal government.

It's a hungry and threatening beast and the hero doesn't even know where to stab his spear.

Peter Hoh said...

KentuckyLiz, as Seymour discovered in "Little Shop of Horrors," it's a lot easier to feed the beast than it is to tame the beast, which is why the beast grows bigger, whether the GOP or the Dems are in power.

OBAMA: -- and I know you share my feelings that we've also got ... to tackle some problems and barriers that have held us back and to secure our rightful place as the preempt economy in the Twenty-First Century. "

Is this a typo in the transcript or yet another Bushism by that oh so eloquent President of ours? What the hell does he mean by a "preempt economy"? Could he mean PREEMINENT? Nah, he just talkin' ebonics to build his street cred.

That's because liberals tend to think our wealth and prosperity is due to luck and not because of our comittment to liberty (except for slave labor, propping up third world dictators, sweatshops, etc)
