Sorry, I've been away.

Yes, I know, I was a fool to click the button to switch to "new Blogger" in the middle of the day. I have a big blog to transfer, and I didn't realize it would take three hours. But I'm back, and I'm new. Whether anything will be different, I'll have to see.

Boo!

Anyway, glad to see Althouse is back, safe and relatively sound.

Interestingly, Ruth Anne migrated to New Blogger yesterday. What a copy-cat, Ann!

Cheers,
Victoria

I made the switch yesterday and it all went well. I haven't tried any of the customization tricks that they brag about... not sure I really care about that. The one really nice thing is that the emailed comments now tell you what post they are from. That makes a nice difference. I like the keyword tagging but for this to be really useful I guess I'd have to go waaay back and tag all the old posts. Hmmmm... sounds like a lot of work.

Yeah, I'm not really planning to do anything new. I just want to get up to date. I should have done it in the middle of the night, but I thought I'd just see if they'd let me upgrade. They'd been barring me for weeks for having a big blog. I guess I see why now. It takes a lot to do the transfer.

Glad you're back up and running. It was disconcerting to see that New Blogger page.

I think I'd better get into a 12-step blog addiction prgoram.

must have althouse fix. . .

Are you planning to go back and add the subject tags to any of your previous posts? There have to be thousands of them.

Hey, something odd is going on...I commented under my real name earlier today on the Bridezilla post and it got converted to a linkless Anonymous comment. Weird.

I know Ruth Anne is a recently upgraded blogger. Are you, Theo?

I can't remember how the at least one other commenter on the Wigged post who had a name but is now anonymous signs in. But I'd have the same question for that person.

I'm not going to go into details about the interesting issues involving Blogger/Google ID's which I've experienced over the past 6-odd weeks (I did e-mail Althouse). But I can say that mine do seem to have been resolved over time--actually, verifiably and universally so far--within the past day or two, when I tested it out. (For the record, neither site which with I'm affiliated has been upgraded, primarily because of issues.)

Given that your names are right in THIS thread, perhaps it's being resolved and won't involve an iterative process.

He's otherwise occupied right now, but I know that Internet Ronin struggled with some issues for a number of weeks. They seem to have been resolved, but that can't be verified right now.

Anyway. FWIW--I share this in case this might click with anyone who might continue to have issues.

And, Theo, pages are loading smoothly and quickly for me right now, though the resource thing you note is still true.

Also, I notice that here and at other places I've tested over the past day, I have the trash can option back again.

I moved my blog about a month ago, and I really like the changes. There is very little I can't do that I used to be able to do but I like having all the options available right there on my dashboard.

Yeah, but at least the grown-ups are back in charge now.

New doesn't mean better.
