Elko to ??.

I've checked into my posh hotel and thought I should check in here too so you'll know I've survived to blog another evening. I maintain high hopes of waking up tomorrow and seeing, photographing, and blogging about some major landscapes. For now, there's this fireplace, that deep bathtub, and a beautiful lobby with drinks, appetizers, and -- I'm not ashamed to say it -- WiFi. More soon, here or over at Instapundit (where I'm glad to see my three co-bloggers are blogging up a storm and presumably not missing me).

Elko. I might have stayed overnight there on my way out to Seattle (via San Jose) in 1985. That's the route we took, I-80, through Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, etc. I think we started out one day in Wyoming and ended up in Elko the next night at some dive called the Courtesy Court.

You know, you could take 84 and 15 up to I-90 and go across that way. Except for the whole Wall Drug business, it's not that bad. Plus, you can take a detour and go see Little Bighorn and Devil's Tower is along there as well. The drive through Wyoming is pretty nice (plus you can buy Dinosaur gas!.

No no no, (dale b), she's not in Elko anymore, she's moved on.

She beat a hasty retreat out of Elko and has arrived in the lovely town of ?? , or is that $$ ?

She's like a Whirling Dervish...as soon as she gets to one place and settles in, she abruptly scrams.

It's like Commando Traveling, never staying in one place for long. Gotta keep moving.

Peace, Maxine

Anthony: My father worked for Sinclair. We had lots of dinosaur things, like little statuettes, swimming pool toys, cuff links. He never liked it as much after it became Atlantic Richfield (and later BP).

Dale: Elko was last night. Tonight is the mysterious "??." I'll reveal the location after I leave. I can't have everyone joining me here. But a smart person could guess where I am. That said, Dick Cheney is welcome to join me for drinks.

The singer/guitar player here is excellent.

I'll put up a picture.

ah, Jackson Hole WY. One of the flagship privatized airport screening sites (a bit of TSA trivia)

I started to post here that Elko (that I knew) was a flat spot in the Western Pacific RR line. A sand and water stop for the Zephyr

as for everyone rushing to gawk at Ann the world famous blogger at JH, methinks your opinion of your renown exceeds reality. :)
