"And I feel just like Jesus' son."

No, this post isn't about "The Da Vinci Code." It's a nice found video of Lou Reed singing "Heroin," back in 1972, with John Cale playing the electric viola. (Via Boing Boing.) And then Nico sings "Femme Fatale." She's got brown hair here, and she's somewhere along the way in her stupendous decline.

Reminds me of Rock and Roll Animal from that same era, a truly great live album, "Sweet Jane", "White Light, White Heat"

I saw the Rock and Roll Animal concert live. (I had to say that.)

Well I'm impressed, really.

A bipolar friend in high school acquired a guitar with only four strings on it, and played it anyway. Everywhere. Badly. His parents eventually made him take lessons and buy another string, presumably. When the wealthy grandparents came for a holiday visit they trotted him out to perform something for the grans, and he played Heroin. "It's my wife, and it's my life." They kicked him out soon after.

Rock and frickin' roll.

I also saw a concert he did a couple years after R&R Animal, and he was terrible. He was barely capable of performing.

Bunker: I don't know if I went anywhere in 1992, but I definitely missed that. Haven't seen Lou since the 70s. Didn't see him before the 70s for that matter. My live Lou Reed consumption is entirely confined to the 70s.

Lou Reed once flashed me an apologetic look after Laurie Anderson stepped on my hand.

Sadly, I can't describe the circumstances under which these events happened.

Palladian: I'm just now getting over the mental image of "Steve Hunter's intro to Sweet Jane" and Ann telling us she was there then you throw out that tease.

Oh, if only [fill in the name of celebrities] would step on my hand.

I'm fascinated by the if I could just touch the hem of his garment aspect of this, the whole we're not worthy.
