"Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?"

"Using Alicia M in the debate as a paragon of virtue just shows that Crooked Hillary suffers from BAD JUDGEMENT! Hillary was set up by a con."

"Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary floated her as an 'angel' without checking her past, which is terrible!"

Things tweeted by Trump first thing in the morning. Via the L.A. Times: "Trump continues attacks on former Miss Universe with middle-of-the-night tweets." Is 5 a.m. for Trump the middle of the night? As someone who often blogs at 5 a.m., I can tell you that's not the middle of the night. That's morning for a person who gets up early, and I'm perfectly sharp and lucid, much more so than at 9 or 10 at night. I don't know about Trump. Some people think he's never right in the head.

I dunno, he needs to get off this topic. It goes too deep, it's Inside Baseball etc. Hillary drew blood and only his fanboys and girls are going to pay attention to Machado's background at this point.

What about Machado's US citizenship? Granted May 2016, just in time for campaign season.

Did Team Hilary help her with that? Was it granted through normal process or some expedited process like a special bill by a Team Hilary Senator?

Was there a quid pro quo? Was she granted citizenship in exchange for speaking out against Trump?

How long has she lived in the US? Has she been a resident of the US for the time normally required for citizenship?

She seems, on Anderson Cooper, to still consider her country to be Venezuelan.

You just have to know that Hillary used this woman knowing full well her checkered past.

She is certain that the LameStream Media© lapdogs will furiously bury the less complementary aspects of the former Miss Universe's character or lack thereof.

They're not journalists, their Democratic Operatives with bylines.

This is interesting. Putting the dumb tweets by Trump aside, I wonder what's going on with this woman.

Obviously this was a set up by the Clinton camp, but how far back does it go? We know that two different media organizations were already doing background on her before the debate, so, theyd been given a heads up by the Clinton camp. What other coordination was there?

While I find this fascinating and interesting, I don't think this is something the media will be interested in. Too much sex and international intrigue. Not something the media cares about, right?

I've a feeling this is how the clinton camp prepares for debates. Set up another Alicia Machado for debate two. Needle Trump with it. You've got your headlines for the rest of the week.

I also expect their are coordinating with pollsters in order to create the perfect image storm.

The Trump camp better get in gear and realize how skillfully they are being played here.

Seems like this was a ticking time bomb set up for a specific purpose. I went looking for info about how Machado got her citizenship and found nothing. What I did find was a slew of articles about how she became a US citizen just so she could vote against Donald Trump. The Ms Piggy etc references appear in all the articles.

One article, from August, said that she was being used in get out the vote/become a citizen efforts in the latin community.

Esquire kind of nails the thinking. I still want to know how she got her citizenship.

Alicia Machado, Former Miss Universe, Gains Citizenship To Vote Against Trump

The best reason to become a citizen, honestly.

Snopes says there's no evidence of a sex tape.

Actually her boyfriend at the time dumped her after he said he saw the tape. He said it was a video taken at night with the night vision mode.

I believe the boyfriend. Snopes is looking for video evidence and will never find it. They won't find Jimmy Hoffa's body either, but trust me, he's f'n dead.

Anyway, I think she's fat in a pretty way. I wouldn't mind if she slithered all over me with Crisco and licked the peanut butter off of my nipples.

But I'm still not voting for a Clinton. Bunch of hicks from Arkansas...

Someone close to Trump needs to create and install a fake Twitter app on Trump's phone that would look just like the real thing but not actually post anything online. You could even have it generate fake responses for him. That way he'd still believe he was Tweeting all his sick burns, withering retorts, and witty musings. Of course everyone on his campaign staff would have to pretend like he was still Tweeting I guess. Not sure how long that ruse would last.

There seems to be no subject unworthy of or beneath the Donald's instant attention. Couple other examples of his inability to focus or see the big picture:

The day after Clinton's nomination, Trump tweets off on Liz Warren.

On his non-support (or maybe his support, who can tell?) of the Iraq war, he spends 3 of his 2 allotted debate minutes on Sean Hannity and then tosses in Howard Stern (for extra gravitas?).

Many voters, blinded by their hatred at the Establishment, the Clintons, Liberalism, and the Democrats want to protest and show their disgust by voting for an "Outsider". The characteristics of this "Outsider" are irrelevant to some just as long as he can stick it to Washington. Of course, the intensity of the anger incapacitates the frontal lobes, so decisions are based solely on emotion. Reminds me of the following tale about how strong emotion (in this case fear) can ultimately produce some unwelcomed results.

The Appointment in Samarra"
(as retold by W. Somerset Maugham [1933])
The speaker is Death

There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master, just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd and when I turned I saw it was Death that jostled me. She looked at me and made a threatening gesture, now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me. The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threating getsture to my servant when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

Yesterday, on his radio show, Hannity went into a lot of backtracking and uncertainty about his previously stating that the gal was into making porn.

But then, starting at 3:20 in the morning, DJT fired up the Twitter machine...and now I guess Hannity will need to regret his backtracking.

David said...

This is wrong. People who work 9-5 often sleep from 11-7. Midnight is a late bedtime, not the middle of the night.

Sprezzatura said...

Does DJT have a financial piece of Twitter?

There's been recent buzz about potential buyers. Maybe DJT is building Twitter hype to hype the price.

Probably grasping at straws w/ the Twitter-hype angle, but logical explanations for DJT's idiosyncrasies are not obvious. Of course there's the stuff about him not wanting to win because he's an HRC placed Trojan horse. And, there's the POV that he's got some sort of way of being that is odd to most folks, but typical for NY.

I dunno.

My first thought was that this was a self inflicted bimbo eruption on Hillary's part. Now I'm not so sure. It's very hard for a man to criticize a beauty contestant without sounding like a sexist. So advantage Hillary. Beyond that who wants to read or discuss currency manipulations, lower tariffs, trade deals, and such. On the other hand, who doesn't want to discuss and do further research on the subject of beauty contestants and their sex tapes. Trump is playing on a ball field where Hillary has a natural advantage.

Okay but so what, for you, is the "middle of the night"? When is it, that you'd think, most normal people would be asleep? Maybe there is no such thing for you. Don't go around being sleep-normative.

Let's both agree; when Trump posts his Tweets is something of massive, yuuuuge unimportance. It has no substantive importance.

But there is a whole class of low-information voters (Rush's term) who will get today's newscycle's lead story. The story is that Trump is Tweeting something or other about sex tapes at 3am. I don't think much of those voters. But Trump seems to be banking on them.

Matt Sablan said...

Middle of the night doesn't have to do with when people are sleeping, it has to do with time keeping.

Let me explain something to you, Matthew; the whole point of the indeterminate phrase "middle of the night" is to raise the question, Why is this guy Tweeting about sex tapes, instead of getting himself some sleep?

Trump should have a news conference and play the YouTube video of his public statement at the time. It was on Hannity yesterday. Basically, he's very supportive of her effort to loose weight. Then he should note he may have been too blunt in private but that is better than pretending to support them in public while working to destroy them in private.

Martin said...

He should stop the tweets, already... or at least include links to articles or videos that support his points.

But the he needs to tone down the insult stuff. He has his base, they aren't going anywhere. He needs to broaden it, and angry tweets are not the answer.

By all means, push back against unfair attacks. Too many GOPs rolled over in the past, and those were strategic mistakes.

But at this point he has a serious "temperament" issue to overcome, and the manner of the pushback will make a difference. Calm, reasonable-sounding, and firm will win support from people who are sympathetic but view him as too "hot" (in McLuhan's terms); harsh insults that don't explain his case, will not.
