"Let's face it: Without rules..."

"... there's chaos."

Nothing worse than sweaty balls while engaging in robust political debate.

So say the anti-testicular perspiration groups.

Scott must be pro-sack sweat and feels strong enough about that cause to refuse to debate Old Breezy Nuts.

Not a fan of Crist

I worked with a woman that insisted on having a fan blowing up between her legs as she worked. For some time, I wondered why, and then a co-worker explained it all.

She was constantly farting.

I'm guessing Mr. Crist enjoys a similar problem.

Why would the Democrats start following the rules now?

You can't fight chaos. It's the Second Law.

There's not a fan big enough to blow away the stench of a turncoat.

I now vote in Florida. I ask again, what assurance could he make to me that I could trust?

I am pretty sure whatever he says, like Obama, he has his fingers crossed behind his back. or would, if he cared at all about truth.

Let's face it. With too many rules, there's chaos.

HXG has a point. But if both parties agree then one throws out parts of the agreement at will according to what they think they can get away with, that is chaos too.

I heard a report that fans were explicitly prohibited in the contract they both signed. Anybody know if that's right?

Making an issue of it at the last minute was a dick move and a gift to Crist, in the way it came off to the public. At that point a guy just has to say hey no problem and get on with the debate.

I know it's not fair but that's life.

Original Mike said...

@Carol - Agreed. Scott played it poorly. I'm guessing that's what Crist was really after, not the fan itself.

Rules are for the little people.

I didn't realize that the fan goes everywhere Crist goes. That's really odd. Sort of Victorian really - don't want him to get the vapors.

Though I like the farting theory. Fartin' Charlie!

I once worked with a serial farter. Got to a point where I couldn't eat eggs.

I always heard "if you'll break the little rules, you'll break the big ones".

Crist has proven that. Why elect him to break the big ones - again?

Best guess is that Crist has a continual flatuence problem from campaigning with Beaners and uses the fan to gas debate opponents.

Gahrie said...

No..the dick move was to use the fan even though the rules prohibited it, but the media did give Crist a gift in the way they covered the issue, and by allowing Crist to use the fan anyway.

Frankly I'm getting a little tired of the democrats changing the rules or ignoring the rules to suit themselves.

Brilliant move by Crist as it forces Scott's decision making and his attitude towards people he disagrees with so perfectly to the surface.

What I found even more damning was Scott's comments about it once it started. After making such a big deal, his non-statement makes him look like a passive aggressive jerk.

SayAahh said...

If Crist gets in the s*** really will hit the fan.

phantommut said...

Well, Charlie Crist has always been a believer in going with whichever way the wind blows. He's not been good at it, mind you....

The rules are for other people. Typical.

Trying to help out Scott by talking about Crist's genitalia and flatulence… is that a good strategy?

Known Unknown said...

Scott's best move would have been to quietly enter the stage right after Crist, walk over, unplug the fan, and throw it across the stage.

Man of action!

Anyway this shakes out, F-L-A is in T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

Scott missed a great opportunity to make Crist look like a sneaky fool with sweaty nuts.
Instead he made himself look like child.

Original Mike said...

I think Scott should have just declared at the beginning that they had a contract, which Crist was willfully violating, then moved on. Crist has shown himself in the past to be lacking in principles, and it would have been another straw on the camel's back.

Wince said...

Why not change-out the whole podium with this?

You're giving us too much credit. Its not about helping Scott. The default setting for guys is never miss a chance to joke around about genitalia and flatulence. We learn it on the playground and it never completely leaves us. Girls think its gross. That only encourages us.
Fart joke trigger warnings would only make it worse.

According to Newsbusters:
In addition, on the Fox News Channel’s Special Report on Thursday, host Bret Baier reported that “[d]ebate officials insist Scott never refused to participate, and was awaiting clarification on the rules when Crist took the stage without him.” - See more at: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/curtis-houck/2014/10/16/cbs-nbc-continue-hyping-fangate-yet-ignore-apology-debate-organizers#sthash.j3DwlpNP.dpuf

Disagree. Allow rule breaking in a debate encourages more of the same. Draw a line in the sand.

Crist was a dick for the fan and was a dick for doing the debate without the governor while the rules discussion was going on.

Glad I had swallowed my coffee before clicking on that link.

Imagine if Clinton had had one of those built into his desk and and his teleprompter. History may have taken a different course.

As a long tome Florida voter I can tell you Crist can't be trusted. I didn't need to watch the debate. I know what Scott has done as governor and I know what Crist has done as governor while acting Republican and the idea of him as governor while acting Democrat is scary. What saves this state from Democrat ruin is that there is no state income tax and there is a right to work act. A lot of the state is now pretty blue and if a Democrat gets elected governor along with a Democrat legislature we could wind up with a state income tax.

Original Mike said...

"if a Democrat gets elected governor along with a Democrat legislature we could wind up with a state income tax."

Can you recall office holders in Florida?

Joe said...

No Crist fan, but I do wonder if this is more about a disconnect between the staffers and the candidate than anything else. The same staffers then suggested to Scott that he be an ass and he agreed! This is what happens when candidates let their staffs run the show.

Mark said...

Original Mike, IMO your suggestion is how Scott could have won the election in the first minute of the debate.

Instead of being the bigger man, he let himself be portrayed as a small petty man.

Paul said...

Christ is a pussy.

Simple as that.

Now do you want a wimp for Governor?

No?

And why not? You have a wimp for President.
