Jerry Seinfeld: "Will you please explain to me why the entire nation has decided to put on shorts? I'm just so sick of this shorts."

"What is this? A barbeque? A volleyball game? What is everybody in shorts for?"

That's from the new episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee":

I was sent there by a reader, who emailed: "Jerry talks about shorts on men and I thought of you."

I started Bermudas on airplanes in 1968, and am proud to have done so.

The pioneers take the arrows.

Also they avoid the Peter Principle. That's one of the arrows.

I don't like that many of these, but this was a good one. Maybe I just liked the car...and the Bob Newhart joke.

My version of Althouse's aversion to some wearing shorts is grown men wearing wildly colored socks to show their individuality. The problem with that is as more and more actors, etc show up on TV with red polka dotted socks, the less individualism is being exhibited.

Why do they always have that on radios?

The 5 and the 4.

I like "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" a lot. There are a few klinker episodes, but generally I find the whole thing quite entertaining. Even the car thing works for me, and I'm not really a car guy.

Today's weather forecast is for the temperature and humidity to both be in the 90s. As soon as I get home from work, I'm putting on my shorts. It's all about comfort, nothing more or less.

I'm reminded of the movie GREENBERG, in which the title character (Ben Stiller), having moved from NYC to Los Angeles, attends a party in his friend's backyard, and every guy at the party (except Greenberg) is wearing shorts. As I recall, many of the men are wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, and other evidence that it isn't the dead of summer. Greenberg asks, "Why do all the men here dress like little boys?"
