Kathleen Sebelius is a walking joke, literally.

At the White House Correspondents Dinner, Obama exploits the woman for laughs acting as if his slide show is broken and then calling someone out to fix it. Sebelius is the sight-joke punchline.

Hey! War on Women… don’t you think? I've also posted this at Instapundit, where I'm guestblogging this week.

Obama's stint at the lectern was terrible overall, by the way. For example, he made a joke about the missing Malaysian airplane. It's an occasion to laugh at CNN, and joking about the media is the thing to do at the Correspondents Dinner, but the President of the United States should not be laughing about the death of hundreds of human beings.

Two comments immediately came to mind.

"Living proof leftists have no sense of humor"

Oh, and Mr. Obama, don't quit the day job. (golfing)

It's weird how his humor is always political. For instance, his famous "joke" about auditing his enemies, or using drone strikes on people who date his daughters. Now he's doing jokes on Obamacare. Just a glitch! And it's her fault.

That's what he does.

It's not wrong if the president does it.
Just sayin'.

DavidD said...

Oh, don't be so hard on the man--it's not like he wrote any of the material; it's not like he even processes it between reading it and speaking it, so can't we all just give him a break? Again? And again? And again?

CStanley said...

I'm reminded of the criticisms of W's joke about looking for the WMDs. I say give them a break, or (probably better yet) stop doing these things altogether. It's really a lose-lose proposition. If they stick to material that isn't controversial it isn't funny, and if they take risks with the jokes it is in bad taste.

But why do the women do this for him? Sebelius could have said no.

Just words.

He reminds me a whole lot of legendary TelePrompTer reader Monica Kaufman in Atlanta (Whippersnappers may know of her as Pearson).

She had no idea what she was reading. For about 30 years. But she was black. And she was the first, so competence was never a requirement.

Obama makes you seeth with anger and hate-perhaps focus on something else in your lifes?

It's funny until somebody gets their eye poked out. Then it's still funny, just not around that person.

@Heyooyeh. The Obama jokes are not the center of my life. And I don't hate the guy. I hate his policies. When are the leftists going to realize that?

His policies are screwing with my life, my healthcare, my retirement plans .... why wouldn't I hate his policies?

BTW, I just love the policy positions of Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams, Clarence Thomas, Allen West, Allen Keyes, Mia Love, Dr. Benjamin Carson and Sen Tim Scott. Do you get the connection?

We are. Or at least I am. It's pointing out to you and the other incredibly non curious, critical thinking deficient lefties such as yourself what an abysmal choice you made when you voted for him. But I'll never convince you. To you he's a brilliant man.

Throwing Sebelius under the bus publicly like that was utterly classless.

The missing jet joke was classless.

The President is classless.

I wouldn't be surprised if some Jews joked in Auschwitz or about stone bars of soap. It's what you do when the reality is so awful you can't admit it. In the Soviet Union there were lots of jokes about the regime. Just not around the KGB or, in our case, around the IRS.

I dislike Obama precisely because of the content of his character. The color of his skin has nothing to do with it.

When he was elected I fervently hoped I was wrong about what I thought I saw in him. Unfortunately, nope.

We need better missing jet jokes.

A search for missing jet jokes comes up only with people complaining about people making missing jet jokes.

Not hate. Just extreme irritation caused by excessive exposure to that arrogant, moronic ass, whom you seem to find admirable. Take your own advise and take care of something useful instead of prattling about your nonsense projection.

In the Obamat's mind, Sebelius is an IT expert: She just finished with wrangling the messed-up exchanges and this stuff is all fresh in her mind.

It kind of reminds me of the tendency of some office workers to go to the person who is always on the phone with the corporate IT department when they have a computer issue. What never occurs to them is that he is always on the phone with IT because he is always screwing-up his computer!

Well, you see....to him we are not really human beings. A psychopathic and narcissistic personality doesn't recognize others as being of any real consequence. Unless people directly affect HIM or useful to advance HIS importance, they just don't exist.

Obama doesn't even have to pretend anymore. Does he?

Heyooyeh said...

Oh whatever, your lives are fine. They're certainly not like those of Auschwitz prisoners or even Soviet citizens. That comparison is actually hilarious.

Big Mike said...

@Titus, the Left hated Bush because he wouldn't let Gore steal the 2000 election, and because he tried to improve the education of Black inner city children.

Meanwhile Obamacare has already had a very negative impact on my personal life. "Hatred" doesn't begin to cover my feelings towards all Democrats, not just the dingbat in the White House.

They were mostly Asians. As Stephen Colbert pointed out, if you can't joke about dead Asians, what dead people can you joke about.

Jason said...

Conservative distaste for Obama is pretty much disagreement with his policies and objections to his (typical liberal/progressive) bent towards tyranny.

With the libtards' Bush Derangement Syndrome it extended to bizarre, violent death fantasies, like assassinating him in a movie, killing him in a book (Nicholson Baker), imagining shooting him in the head (Randi Rhodes), and monologues calling Cheney "a destroyer, an eater of human flesh." (Matt Malloy.)

I'm not even getting into the whacked out paper mache craft projects where Bush and/or Palin were hanged in effigy.

Big difference.

People have tuned Obama out. This is usually about the time it happens in a presidency. His incompetence is well known and his likeability has faded. He's not important or interesting enough to make fun of.

Titus and Crack will be along shortly to explain why Condoleeza Rice is not a "real black woman" and thus not deserving of alerts from the left's omnipresent "Racism + War on Women" warning system.

Who was it in the Carter administration who suggested Jimmy "lighten up" and tell a joke or two to brighten him image so he began to make jokes ripping on his staff. That's pretty much Obama in a nutshell.

It's hard for me to separate my disgust for this entire charade of a "funny" affair -- the WHCD -- with my disgust at using Sibelius for a cheap laugh.

Yes, we know that ACA is broken. Is that something funny though? Government that we pay for that doesn't work at all is funny? How is a waste of money at all funny?

David said...

At least they did not have Sibelius in blackface. The virtual blackface was bad enough.

The Godfather said...

The underlying premise of the video/Sebelius joke is that the Obamacare website is fixed, for which Sebelius can take at least some of the credit, and Obamacare is working great!

@Althouse: You have been brain-washed by all the right-wing Koch-heads among your commentators (and your faculty is probably full of crypto Koch-heads, too) into thinking Obamacare is not the great world-historical success that it is. Therefore, you didn't get the joke.

Exactly what I thought Madman that they sat and wined and dined in the White House and laughed at big govt incompetence.

And the humorless whining continues. The President's speech was hilarious and obviously got under the skin of the perpetually aggrieved. So much the better. But everyone's concern for Sebelius is duly noted.

Seeing Obama is like having a younger brother who embarrasses you. He is also ruining the family.

Why should we want to look at him ? I have petty much lost interest in politics since Romney lost as I think that was the last chance for the country.

My only consideration now is that I am glad I am 76. The people who voted for him, just like the Athenians who recalled Alcibiades from the Syracuse expedition, will live with the consequences. They will be awful but I won't be here (unless God has a malicious sense of humor).

MadisonMan said...

The whole thing is a waste of time and money - but if you think it's funny when it's your money being spent, well, okay. We can agree to disagree on this. Call me a frugal midwesterner.

Are you saying that Obama didn't know that the mic was on or that the doesn't distinguish between mic on and mic off?

Which reminds me, if you think that Reagan was bad, defending Obama by saying that Reagan did the same thing is not actually a defense.
