Rand Paul reveals — in an interview with a 4th grader — that there's a 50-5o chance he'll run for President.

Because if a kid asks you a question, you've got to give a straight, clear answer. And I love the way he elaborates in a way that a kid can relate to:
“It is a big job to do, to run for president...It would take traveling around the country, it would mean I’d be home less time, get to see my kids [for] less time. And the people in the media, they get meaner and meaner when you run for president because they pick you apart and say your clothes don’t look good, your hair looks bad, you need a haircut."
People get meaner and meaner! And they sure will tell you your hair looks bad. When I saw Paul on "Meet the Press" the other day, I observed that his hair was changing, becoming more normal, less ratty and goofy. Oh! I'm being mean. New media mean. All I mean is: I think he is going to run for President because I'm reading the tea leaves hair tendrils.

Waste of time. No republican can win.

"Is it flowing? I like flowing, cascading hair... Thick lustrous hair is very important to me."

The guy's a gentleman, and articulate, and explains vicious unfairness by the media in a metaphor that's clear and doesn't carry a ton of implied baggage. The kid will see the problem without being troubled by the sewer of partisan politics.

I hope he does, even if he doesn't win he has something to contribute to the conversation - bend the curve.

Kentucky law doesn't allow him to run for both re-election to the Senate and the presidency at the same time. He'd have to challenge the law in court.

He is right about the press getting meaner and he used words the kids would relate to.

The press will get mean to him solely because he's GOP and they are DNC.

Ann seems to think the meanness coming from those that purport to be "professionals" is funny, because she approves of the target. "Meanness" coming from the GOP towards Obama is "bad messaging".

I could be wrong.

Rand Paul would make an excellent candidate for domestic policy. His foreign policy positions are still murky.

Who would you like to hear arguing with Hillary?

What's the best theater?

We know the outcome, so I think these are the relevant questions.

Yes, the press is very mean toward our wonderful, public-spirited politicians, who are creatures of rare generosity.

And, yeah, the media will get meaner and meaner, so who would you enjoy seeing bullied for the next 3 years?

I think Rand Paul would be a great choice.

As for Scott Walker, we've got to keep him in Mad Town.

Paul is probably too short to be elected president (5'7-5'8). Hillary is 5'7. and might be taller than him in heels.

Hillary Clinton, for a refreshing change.

To Dreeeeeam...the impossible DREEAAAAM.

He's got a new toupee.

What the hell, why not? The current POTUS set the bar pretty damned low when it comes to what experience is required to get the job.

I front-paged my own comment, so if you want to bully me about it (or pile on with me as I bully everybody (except maybe our darling Scotty), come to the new post.

Use this thread for everything else. How Rand talks to/uses kids, Rand's hair, the chances of Rand running….

For now, I prefer Walker; someone with actual executive experience. Having Paul in the mix, however, would make for an interesting campaign. Above all it would further focus attention on fiscal conservatism.

My one question for both is: What is your intention regarding our troops in Afghanistan?

Other questions: Will you get rid of the department of education?

How would you reform the department of Homeland security? (And would you please change the name?) How about the TSA? ATF?

Do you really believe in federalism?

Would you support an amendment to the constitution to repeal the sixteenth amendment (allowing income tax)?

What did Rand do before becoming a senator?

Palin.

Of course there is the rumor out there that Rand Paul wears a toupee.

But I personally think that he would choose something more manly than curls if he gets to pick his own poison.

I like Rand's hair.

But when was the last time a white man with curly curly hair won the Presidency?

Nixon? He had a wave to his hair. Reagan slicked his hair down, but there wasn't more than a wave to it either.

Rand Paul is certainly a talker. So is Hillary. People with little accomplishments talk a lot. Ted Cruz and Elizabeth Warren talk a lot, too. Cruz and Paul remind me a lot of Obama. Nobody talks more than Obama.

Hillary, like Christie, is too fat to be President.

A Rand Paul nomination would show if the establishment Republicans are willing to do what they expect the Tea Party to do for them.

I bet they won't.

Hm, only 50-50? I wonder what the deciding factor will be.
