"This should be noted: The very best day ever of the Althouse blog."

"More solid, informational, intellectual, thoughtful content than any day in my memory, going back three years. Good work."

Email received yesterday. Yesterday was the day with the bird theme. The day before was the day with the umbrella theme.

I'm quoting fan mail — or possibly faux fan mail, intended sarcastically — but I note that I've got my share of antagonists, and the umbrella posts have proved especially confounding for them.

Those New Yorkers sure use a lot words just say "Shut Up".

Probably talking about my comments. And thanks.

That linked article may have been one of the most off-putting things I've ever read. Does the author know any "spoke"-synonym verbs that aren't emotionally-laden trollbait?

I only made it through a couple of paragraphs.

I gotta say, I thought the umbrella theme was cool. -ella -ella ay ay ay.

There is NO uniformed officer holding an umbrella for Ronald Reagan.

Leftists morons cant even summon an accurate defense.

What a coincidence. I thought it was my best day ever on Althouse as well.

We meant Richard Nixon. Our mistake.

I suppose my absence increased the batting average.

Actually that would be when Althouse posts a picture of your corpse, you bucket of dog shit.

Sane people love you too, Methadras.

A little over the top, don't you think? I mean...a whole bucket full?

I'm thinking I deserve a little more than that in this case. The little sprite's just phonin' it in.

He does seem to have fallen into some sort of low pressure pattern of hate lately.

I agree. The corpse should have only a few canine logs, arranged in an artsy way as is done in food plating.

Would that feng your shui, methadras?

Plus I know that "bird theme" is a dig at avian species.

I antagonize her. Sometimes she deserves it. Every now and then I give her some credit.

The few times she's reached down to me it wasn't to ask about my health or well being.

Really glad to see Auntie Althousiana making an appearance. It's been too long and she looks great.

Wow!! Congratulations! You have been recognized by the Village Voice....and then I read the article. The writer was clearly short of material.

Ann Pretends to Ignore my Telepathic-Only posts.

Well, I think Ann has created a small Town newspaper, and collected some good thinkers to go along with it.

I find it amazing, how she has cut out this space in Cyberspace. All cats, talking about some of the most contentious topics of the day.

And she has been really great about analyzing the words used to sway opinion makers.

I don't always agree with Ann, and rarely acknowledge when I do (since she is God, I only tell God when I disagree), but this is a pretty cool place to be.

The leftists seem a lot better at this. Yes, you are right, Global Warming, and did you ever consider that will increase infidelity. Leftists think in soft fuzzy abstractions, that have a million different consequences in Leftist Nirvana.

But conservatives seem to seek abstract truths.

I haven't read the Voice in years, but my, how it's descended to cartoon diatribe.

And, paraphrasing Freud, sometimes an umbrella is just an umbrella.
