"Students say [UW] Chancellor David Ward's remoteness drove them to occupy his office."

A headline at the Cap Times (surprisingly/unintentionally) mocks the students' compulsion to protest.
Students... say they felt pushed into their extreme action because interim Chancellor David Ward has ignored two official findings that labor practices at the Milwaukee factory that makes Palermo’s Pizzas sporting Bucky Badger logos violate the university’s Code of Conduct for licensees....

Future history books will detail how leftist ideology destroyed the university and hastened their decent into irrelevancy. Some universities will make great museums. The rest will be used to house their useless graduates.

I thought Palermo's Pizza was made in China.

My first thought was "My God! Someone was actually paid to write that!" My second thought was "Exactly how far into the cheek was the tongue?"

I looked at the picture in the article and thought, "Asshole!"

I'd attribute that to my age, but I was like that toward asshole activists way back when I was in college in the 1970s.

I'd be very surprised if he's a hard science major.

Protesting at college is a meaningful activity that future employers want to see in their prospective hires.

I told my son to forget about his wothless Liberal Arts degree, take a welding course and light out for the North Dakota oil fields. He'll start at $60-70K a year and pull down another $20K in overtime. As if that chucklehead needs to know the dif between Ionic, Doric and Corinthian coloums...

OK, so it's not the Vietnam War. Give them a break, they gotta protest something, and I think they're showing real resourcefulness here.

None of this changes the fact that there are great engineering schools out there. Cal Tech, MIT, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, Harvard.

Maybe if they pick more meaningful issues people will pay more attention to them.

If they can master the art of bomb-making and cop killing, it will surely prepare them for a future career in academia!

When the University dips its beak in economic justice it is only a matter of time before all the other justice issues intrude on any coherent policy. It is like the lefties deciding not to buy anything made in Bangladesh. Great. Let the little people rot to make yourself feel better about yourself while permitting yourself to buy expensive jeans.

I am going to see if I can mail order Palermo's Pizza. Perhaps the striking workers can ship off to Bangladesh and make some expensive jeans for us over there.

College students and pizza - a great relationship.

Prof friend asked students for a better metaphor for American assimilation other than the "melting pot" amalgamation theory of acculturation and the 20 year old revised K-12 textbook definition called "the salad bowl theory" (Google it for cry eye - schools have been teaching kids the melting pot theory is dead for like 20 or more years - multiculturalism agenda and all, you know?)

So Prof. friend asked 88 students for a new creative metaphor.....

About 80% of them picked "pizza". Big surprise?

Bad assignment, right - given the bias of college kids.

The UW-Madison students making 15 minutes of news protesting Palermo's pizza are so freaking sad - indoctrinated Poli Sci majors (about to be Law School morons) - who are protesting nothing more than a local business who is not unionized.

Check out the price structures of Palermo Pizza vs the others in the freezer section. Check out their "miles traveled" (you moron students who seem to be voting for a bigger carbon footprint).

My take - they are Poli Sci majors...definitely not Environmental Studies majors.

Pasty-white, race-baiting, boy of privilege accuses naturalized 1st generation immigrants of being anti-immigrant because INS rounded up illegal first-gen immigrants at the pizza plant.

has ignored two official findings...
There have been no legal findings against Palermo's in this matter. The article describes the fact-free "findings" of two groups of diversity marms at the UW. Palermo's has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the matter by the most liberal NLRB in almost a century, but it's not enough to mollify UW Madison's white guilt. Just like Voces de Frontera, these UW students are milking a non-issue for their own celebrity as long as possible.
