"I got the idea spontaneously.... I'm a man of science, I have a very high IQ."

"I thought, I'll get rid of it.... I have the ability to solve problems in a second."

Said the professor, explaining his thinking after he cut off his wife's lip, when he realized doctors might be able to sew it back on. She'd told him she wanted a divorce. He ate the lip.

I am detecting a theme for today's blog posts.

"I'm very intelligent". This is one of the many reasons we homeschooled our kids. They are intelligent and would learn in any environment. We want to pass our morals on to our kids. Intelligence is over-rated. Prisons are full of very intelligent criminals.

"Swedish" -- first sentence, first paragraph.

"Believed to be from Iran" -- fifth paragraph.

"Prosecutors said the professor, believed to be from Iran"

Another triumph of multiculturalism. Sweden is enjoying the presence of a large Muslim minority which brought its own culture with it.

Used to be the swedes ate a lot of herring--looks like the dietary preferances have changed a bit--its a toss up with respect to lips and herring though.

The last big medical assault story was a hoax. This sounds like one as well.

You know.. the old Testament 'Eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth' had some good points.

Don't say that Scott M. and I didn't warn you. It's not coming. It's here.

I guess this guy was a real hotdog.

Well, he's an a-hole, and they say hotdogs are lips and a-holes.

"The 52-year-old academic reportedly told investigators he planned to kill himself after the May attack at their Stockholm home."

And yet he pussed out on that part. Typical.

Prosecutors said the professor, believed to be from Iran, flew into a jealous rage because she 'repeatedly' asked him for a divorce.

I can't imagine why she would want to leave him.

Is this the opposite of wax(ing) lips?

Yet another proof that IQ has no relation to wisdom, and scientific training likewise.

Not that the scientific method had anything to do with this, though the way he self-identifies as a "man of science" as if it justifies his actions is precious.

"I'm very intelligent."

This always makes me suspicious. It's like when someone tells me "I'm very cool," or "I'm awesome in the sack."

Uh huh, sure you are.

But really, can't you just imagine a Swede doing this? I mean, yes, I'm mixing together the Swedish Chef and Dr. Strangelove in my mind, but it's so easy to hear those lines in a fruity Swedish accent.

They probably need to order Meadhouse's, "You Can be A Fun Couple, Too" DVD.

Great idea. Karma for the man that has a really high IQ and can think of solutions very quickly.

Take the whole head, just in case.

Yes, I can imagine a Swede doing this. It's the crazy, after all.

But what I can't imagine is a Swede hanging around to ask, repeatedly, for a divorce, as if she couldn't just *get* one.

I feel sort of like culture has passed me by. Even on a really bad day, the thought of eating human flesh has never occurred to me.

Oh truly? Never had a hankering after long pig? It's the last great taboo, you know -- in our jaded, decadent era, it's the only thing new that's left to try. It's the only thing left that can epater la bourgeoisie.

Well, other than mild expressions of racism.

In a just world, she gets to choose the part of his body that will be rendered inoperative. A little Old Testament Hebrew irony for the Swedish-Iranian-Whatever-he-is-They-are-not-going-to-tell-us guy.

No wonder she wanted a divorce. He is a monsters of banal evil bragging about being a "Scientist."

We used to have a crime called Maiming which covered biting or sawing of body parts.

Living with a part of your body missingis a terrible thing to have done to you.

The Civil War once, and now the IED Trails through the Afghanistan mountain valleys are doing just that to the young men.

Johnny we hardly knew ye!.

Which part of his training and upbringing do you think had the most bearing on his decision:

1)He was a man of science
2)He had a high IQ
3)He was living in Sweden
4)His wife asked him repeatedly for a divorce
5)He was Iranian.

They shaded this story so the last option remains in the background, but just about everybody has picked up on it. To be fair, I think very few Iranians cut off their wives' lips, but, also to be fair, no Swedes engage in such behavior.

That's what I was thinking. If other people don't realize you're intelligent unless you tell them, you're probably not.

Anyway you have to keep an eye on those professors.

Some people really just need to be beaten to death. There's no cure for that level of obtuse stupidity and really the world already has almost 7 billion people in it. We don't necessarily need this guy around to make a round number.

The Swedes had the pleasure of another example of Muslim culture several years ago. Another issue of multi-culti.

A never ending story.
