Irony pursues Barack Obama.

"President Obama, who took a plunge in the Gulf last week to show Americans it was safe to swim the oil spill-plagued area, arrived on this supposedly pristine island [Martha’s Vineyard] yesterday in the midst of a rash of bacteria-induced beach closings."

Okay, who pooped in the Atlantic Ocean?

Things turn genuinely shitty, when Obama tries to do anything.

I thought it was the VOTERS pursuing Obama?

It's a Gulf Stream. What goes around comes around.

That's what happens when the Lefties take over something.

Gulf oil spill: Most of the oil remains

Hey O drink a pot of coffee using Gulf water.

Except he didn't really swim in the Gulf.

Supposedly pristine?

Who thought that?

This is a case of a journalists seeking out a National Angle for a local story. Look how clever they are! They can combine two local stories -- Obama visiting, and inferred excess of fecal coliform -- and mention a recent national news story as well!

Reminds me of John Gummer, the UK Ag Minister who, in the wake of the "mad cow disease" scandal, fed his four-year-old daughter a hamburger for the benefit of press cameras.

This kind of political theater didn't work for Gummer, and it won't work for Obama.

I was in Nantucket earlier this summer and they had beach closings too. They claimed it was probably a testing error.

Obama swam in the Gulf, is that like Mao swimming the Yangtze?

I think hdhouse might write Obama is a "looser". Heh.

President Obama did not swim in the gulf. According to media accounts, he and his family swam off Alligator Point. That body of water is St Andrew BAY. It's an inland point that's only connected to the Gulf.

Who hasn't?

Obama is starting his "I'm Swimming In Your Body of Water, America!" national tour.

Hope he gets to take a dip on the North shore of Lake Superior at Goosberry Falls State Park. That'll make his nips stand at attention!

re: Yangtze pic, are those oil plumes I see?

Yangtze is considered dangerously polluted. Probably what gave Mao such buoyancy.

Too funny!

We should start a google pin map, assuming Obama doesn't drop out for another set of vacations. Those photo ops are tough work.

It's Barney Frank and his cohorts from fire island swimming in the ocean again. Someone has to stop them. Look at all the environmental damage they do.

That was covered here the other day:
Swimming Mosque

"To prove to the American people that the it's now safe to go swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, Barack Hussein Obama put on his Speedo and bravely jumped into Saint Andrew Bay, which technically isn't part of the Gulf of Mexico but, in the words of the Whitehouse photographers, is "close enough for government work."

"The president and his family also courageously proved that it's perfectly safe to eat seafood from the Gulf, by going to a restaurant and looking over a menu of shrimp, crab, clams, and oysters before settling on chicken fingers and burgers, no doubt made from the flocks of chickens and herds of cows who are again frolicking in the Gulf of Mexico. Or maybe they were caught in Saint Andrew Bay - it's very hard to tell them apart."

The photoshop at the bottom of the post is a real hoot.

Alan

I completely missed that party about their dinner choices and the photographer's quip. Both are hysterically sad.

Your comment about chickens and cows frolicking in the gulf is a classic.

Often happens with that type of testing.

Scott M - I can't take credit for the comment - I was trying to quote the original post at Hope n' Change Cartoons by Stilton Jarlsberg. The guy's a comic genius with clipart and commentary in the same way Crack Emcee uses photos to enhance his posts.

Great, another vacation! This guy never works, unless he is signing a bill he never read.

Now, someone will probably blame the GOP or those perceived racists for polluting the water.

Why is it so hard to take young kids to church?

We did it. My son does it with his.

Many people do it.

A church without kids and babies is sad.

Yes, it is a bit more inconvenient than going without kids. But someone who stops going because of their kids doesn't have their beliefs stuck very tight anyway.

Going to church from babyhood is a good experience for the kids too. (IMHO. Your mileage may vary)

Our 6-year-old is perfect in church, even if she's not exactly sure what's going on. I agree it still a good experience.

The 2-year-old, on the other hand...well, she's a terror at the best of times and taking her into service with us usually ends with one of us getting up and leaving with her. I told my wife that I'm to the point where the 2-year-old needs to go down to the nursery during service.

The 1-year-old we leave at home to cut the grass.

Professor it was most likely an an Ewok. In addition to committing despicable sexual acts they are not known for sanitary hygiene either.

We cannot take our youngest daughter to church: She might burn herself if she touches the holy water.

Somebody stop the irony! The President is going down under irony for the third time. I wonder what would happen if Obama suddenly stopped lying and opened up and told us what he really thinks. His approval ratings might soar from a renewed buttressing of him as a handsome black man doing his best. Is that racist of me?
