Good.

Now let's focus on saving witch children.

And genital mutilation.

great ! now lets hope those gentlemen are not harmed by all the people who supported the sentence.

there are plenty of other countries that punish people for their sexuality. i guess those countries dont get enough Aid from the UN to strong arm them.

Read Paul Theroux's book from Cairo to Cape Town. This sort of thing is not limited to Malawi. Nor is overly harsh sentances limited to homosexuals. Crowds will "cheerfully" beat a person to death for little reason. It is fun.

This is probably the best possible outcome.

So, how do we reach a middle ground?

Keeping gay men in the closet is a damned good idea. It's a public health imperative. Draconian punishment is a bad idea, too.

So, what's the middle ground?

In the West, the situation is just as crazy. Gay white men now occupy the second rung on the quota ladder just below blacks. White hetero men are at the bottom of the quota ladder. White men are, thus, under intense pressure to be, or to pretend to be gay if they want to advance in any number of professions in the arts or media.

I think that gay men belong in the closet. They committed suicide by the tens of thousands during the AIDS epidemic, when the closet doors were opened.

On the other hand, I'm not in favor of using the state to punish gay men.

What's the middle ground?

One hopes that Malawi's government isn't permitted to recruit lawyers at Harvard.

I'm not really interested in seeking out a "middle ground" between freedom and oppression.

I think the pardon is terrible. Repeal the law! And I'm not letting up on Malawi until it does.

Put straight people in the closet. Think of how many public health issues will be solved!

Fuck this liar.

Gay men are not, and have not been oppressed.

The great hetero assault on gay men is a lie. Gay men killed themselves by the tens of thousands.

I'm tired of the lies, asshole. You are a low life liar.

This lie about the "oppression" of gay men is one of the most fantastic, hysterical and vicious lies in history.

It's an attempt to dump the guilt for the great mass suicide of gay men during the AIDS epidemic onto hetero menb.

One of the most vicious fucking lies in history.

Great comment to make on a story about gay men being locked up in prison for being gay.

beatings, murders, torture, executions, imprisonment, condemnations from religions, votes against civil rights, disowning by families, no protections against discrimination in housing and employment, hateful comments on message boards... nope, no oppresion here.

It all is nothing compared to the massive suicide gay men committed by starting the AIDS epidemic.

And, you know, in the aftermath of the AIDS epidemic, those traditional proscriptions against gay men that caused people to be so wary of them make a lot of sense.

Quit lying. These lies won't work on me. I've lived through this history. Try the lies on kids who didn't see what I saw.

The traditional wisdom about gay men is absolutely on the mark. This isn't a "prejudice." It's observation of reality.

Try selling these lies to dumb kids.

A question for all these liars who expect me to get weepy over gay men.

You've concocted a phony history that blames the deaths of tens of thousands of gay men on straight men. That's what the propaganda offensive of movies like "Brokeback Mountain" was all about.

You've got a quota preference over me.

In the media and arts business where I work, gay men set up closed shops that deliberately exclude straight men.

So, I don't give a fuck about your complaints. Tough shit.

May question: Tell me why I should give a shit about you?

I don't give a fuck about these great philosophical abstractions you want to babble about. I don't give a fuck about your problems. You don't give a fuck about mine.

That's the way it is.

Being gay is a abnormal choice that folks make. I dont see why that should let gays, lesbians and transvestites get special privileges. And the so-called "oppression" of gays/lesbians is one of the biggest lies propagated by the left-liberal media and academia.
Violence against GLBT people is not acceptable, yet, we need to ensure that GLBT folks dont get any special consideration at work etc. They are NOT AN OPPRESSED MINORITY!!!!

So does this mean that this 8th world shit-hole is going to stop aids infected males from raping infants to cure them of the aids?
