"Now, I would assume that Dylan was *joking.*"

I said.

Correctly.

Melanie would be okay on a GPS.

She has a nice version of Lay Lady Lay.

i think it's possible Dylan has been joking for about 40 years.

I was disappointed to learn that this was not in reference to his coming Christmas album. My later years have been marred by Springsteen's rendition of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Am I to be further afflicted with Dylan's version of Silent Night? The human spirit can only endure so much before it starts begging to be led to the morphine drip.

Melanie would be great on GPS. Her shtick would be "Turn right, and then left. And don't hit any animals!"

She did a couple of Dylan covers, including a really boring Mr. Tambourine Man. But I always liked her a lot. In fact, I hitchhiked a few times to NYC to see her live.

Thanks for the memory RHHardin.

"Bob Dylan's joke taken seriously by The New York Times, Washington Post"

Idiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull,
From the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol.
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,
You're an idiot, babe.
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.
