Where should we eat lunch?

On the terrace of the University Club, with the profs?

Or should we just get something from one of the food carts?

Library Mall

Either way will be swell. There's never been a lovelier day ... here in Madison, Wisconsin.

My favorite of the Madison Carts was the Southern food one. I loved the chicken sandwhich or rice and beans. YUM. Helped me through many a law school day (which might explain why I got so chubby during law school!).

Great photos, Ann!

The Terrace!!!! I like the armrests, on the chairs, at last! As you can see, that one guy really makes use of them. They're important!

What I don't like, is having to put belongings on the ground. That one guy's folio, and that other guy's black briefcase, or whatnot, is sitting on the floor.

They can't set them on the table?, or one of the few empty chairs that aren't being used?

I never like putting my stuff on the floor. I guess I'm used to larger tables, roomier booths, or benches.

Or, I'll just keep my belongings on my lap.

Is that weird?

It just strikes me as not quite right to have to store personal effects on the floor.

Peace, Maxine

yeah... tell me how great Madison is, next January.

That's when I'm glad to be living in Arizona.

It just occurred to me from this post..Ann Althouse is truly a basically happy , well adjusted person. Even if she has an addictive compulsion to blogging! Thanks for sharing - it's been like a monsoon here in Philly and we are looking forward to some sunny days.

Angieoh! -- Sounds good. I don't use the carts enough.

Maxine: I'm constantly putting my stuff on the floor, but I'm really vigilant about thieves, who I always imagine are ready to take advantage of any inattention.

Eli: You get the award for most predictable comment. Maybe more variable weather would make you less predictable.

Mark: You may notice that I don't blog about students. I can't really.

AJ: You'll be interested to know that lunch was all about talking about blogging.

Same thing here in Boston: Nothing so rare. :)

Thank you.

predictable = consistent.

Besides, living in paradise tends to do that to you.

Paradise? Ick! Arizona is beautiful but the August I spent there, I spent running from one air conditioned spot to the next.

I miss living in a college town. You guys have a serious food cart set-up there. I'm drooling. I can't believe its that great even in the summer! My college town was D-E-A-D in the summer.

Ann: If I may stretch this a bit to speaking of the faculty of the University of Wisconsin, did you by any chance know Denice Denton, the late Chancellor of the University of California at Santa Cruz, when she was the only female professor in the engineering department at UW?

Internet Ronin: Yes, I did. It's very sad. Terrible.
